Hunter Oaks

Comment here to evaluate the Hunter Oaks Horse Trials. This will be my test case, since I can actually comment (a lot) on this one.

For Beginner Novice and Novice:

Terrain: 4
Jumps: 2
Time/Distance: 2

Comments: Very very hilly course for all levels, esp. at training. Jumps are average difficulty, and include water pass-through (option at BN), up-bank (BN)/down bank (N), and sometimes a ditch on N, but nothing overly tricky. Most fences are below max height and width, but can be tough with the terrain - requires a balanced horse.

Stabling is below par. Fairgrounds facility with stalls exposed to central Illinois winds in mid-October make for an uncomfortable experience. Warm-up has taken place in a parking area; grass sections divided by gravel drives. One sand arena's footing is not bad. Also, you trailer out for XC on Sunday, which I won't argue is a nice course. However, I will not personally go back until major changes are made regarding the stabling and warm-up situations for Dressage and Stadium. Also, not fond of traveling to an event and having th trailer out for XC.
