The woods can give some people problems, know where you're going and prepare your horse for travelling from light to dark.

The water obstacle is large and new, BN is always an option, N is mandatory, T and P have drops into the water, P usually has a bounce or a one stride into the water.

Many portable jumps on course.

Well groomed footing with gravel takeoff and landing points, as well as a short packed stonedust road crossing.

IEA has a nice, inviting XC course that is straightforward at the BN level. Walking the course I didn't see any significant difference between BN and N. The only tricky bit for young or inexperienced horses or riders was that the first jump is really close to the startbox, so if your OTTB is confused as to why he's there and what he's doing, he might not see the jump until it's under his feet. Also there was a decent-sized jump about three or four strides before the water. Most jumps are moveable, so this reflects the 2006 event.

Overall, the course was very welcoming for a new horse. Both BN and N were straightforward. People said T was harder this year than in the past.
