Stoneleigh Novice:

terrain 3
jumps 3
time 3

I love Stoneleigh but I think it is a little harder(in a good way) than some others. I thought that the stadium had a lot of maxed out fences and that some of the XC jumps seemed huge, but everything rode well. That big red table always seems huge when you walk the course but jumps like a dream. The novice XC has pass through water, banks, and ditches. One of the ditches is in a field and if your horse is not right on your aids he may just breeze on by it. It is not big but it may seem a tad out of place. The XC course runs through the campus and you pass over a paved road that is covered in dirt/sand. It is a really well run event with great volunteers.

Stoneleigh Burnham- All Levels

Terrain- 3.5
Jumps- 3
Time- varried

I've voulinteered at Stoneleigh for several years, doing everything from stadium fence fixing, to XC judging; and the XC Starter is one of my favorite people.

The event is run VERY well, very organized. I deffenitly agree with Susan, Stoneleigh is a TOUGH event- they often use the maximum amount of fences at the max hieght and width both in Stadium and XC.

The XC varies from event to event, and I would like to point out that it does not always cross the paved driveway- I beleive their most reccent event was the first time they did this (Summer HT 2006). The course is lovely, but very challenging. Even at the novice levels there are a lot of tough obstacles- but the course is brilliantly designed and rides, as Susan said, like a dream. (The big red table looks HUGE, but in 2 events I never had a single refusal/runout/fall at that fence).

As a note- BE ON TIME for your XC start, and for goodness sake, DON'T let your parents/trainers/anyone cross the Caution tape around the XC start. They are very accomidating and if you are ready ahead of time to start XC you often times can- just let the starters know and they'll work it out for you.
